JRT AI Agent adds a smart AI chat assistant to your WordPress website to help visitors get quick answers — without replacing real human support.
The assistant is designed to be helpful, transparent, and safe. It only answers questions using the content you allow and clearly guides visitors to contact a real person when needed.
The plugin works on any WordPress site. WooCommerce integration is optional.
⚠️ Important: This plugin requires you to use your own AI provider API key (OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude). The plugin does not include or provide free AI usage.
Your AI provider account must have active billing or available credits for the chat assistant to function.

How It Works
You create your own account with a supported AI provider (OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude).
You generate your own API key from that provider.
You enter your API key in Settings → JRT AI Agent.
Visitors open the chat and ask questions.
Messages are securely sent to your configured AI provider.
The AI responds using the content you have allowed.
⚠️ If your AI provider account does not have available credits or active billing, the chat assistant will not work and may return an error.
The plugin author does not provide API access and is not responsible for third-party service charges.
Quick Start
Install and activate JRT AI Agent
Create an account with OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic
Generate your own API key
Ensure your AI account has available credits or active billing
Go to Settings → JRT AI Agent
Choose your provider, enter your API key, save, then click “Test connection”
Select your policy pages (Privacy Policy, Terms, etc.)
(Optional) Enable site content search
Choose where the chat appears: every page, or only pages with the [jrt_ai_agent_chat] shortcode
Usage
By default the chat appears as a floating button on every page.
To show it only on specific pages, set “Where to show” to “Only on pages containing the shortcode” and add this shortcode to those pages:

Keeping API keys out of the database
You can define your key in wp-config.php instead of saving it in the settings page:

Developer filters
jrt_ai_agent_disable_autoload — return true to stop the widget and its assets from loading.
jrt_ai_agent_can_use_post( bool $allowed, WP_Post $post ) — return false to keep a post (for example members-only content) out of the AI context.
jrt_ai_agent_render_shortcodes( bool $render ) — return true to render shortcodes in context content (they are stripped by default).
jrt_ai_agent_search_keywords( array $keywords, string $message ) — adjust the keywords used for site search.
jrt_ai_agent_system_prompt( string $prompt, string $message ) — modify the full system prompt.
jrt_ai_agent_models( array $models, string $provider ) — add or remove models in the settings dropdown.
jrt_ai_agent_openai_payload, jrt_ai_agent_gemini_payload, jrt_ai_agent_anthropic_payload — modify the request body sent to each provider.
Third-Party Services
JRT AI Agent relies on external AI services to generate responses. The plugin does not function without configuring at least one supported provider.
The site owner must supply their own API key and maintain their own account with the chosen provider. Only the provider selected in the settings receives data.
OpenAI (ChatGPT)
Service: OpenAI API (https://api.openai.com)
Purpose: Generates AI-powered chat responses
Account Required: Yes — site owner must create their own OpenAI account
Billing Required: Yes — account must have available credits or active billing

Optional recent conversation history (if enabled)

⚠️ The plugin author does not collect, store, or process AI usage data. All AI processing is performed by the configured third-party provider.
Site owners are responsible for reviewing and complying with the terms, privacy policies, and billing requirements of the selected provider.
Privacy Policy
JRT AI Agent does not collect or store personal data by default.
When enabled, chat messages are sent to the configured third-party AI provider solely for the purpose of generating responses.
Conversation history can be disabled entirely. Browser storage is optional and can be turned off in settings.
For rate limiting, a hash of the visitor’s IP address is stored in a temporary transient that expires after 10 minutes.
The site owner is responsible for informing users about AI-generated responses and third-party data processing in their own privacy policy.
