DriveHub is an all-in-one Google Drive plugin for WordPress that works as a Google Drive file manager, document embedder, image and video gallery, file uploader, document library, and cloud file sharing solution.

Source Code
The JavaScript in assets/js/ is a compiled/minified build. The full, human-readable source is included in this plugin under js-src/, along with the package.json used to build it. To build from source: run npm install followed by npm run build:all from the plugin’s root directory.

Why Use Google Drive With WordPress?
WordPress provides the website and publishing layer, while Google Drive provides cloud storage and file organization. DriveHub connects the two, allowing sites to use Google Drive as file storage for WordPress while managing, embedding, displaying, uploading, sharing, and delivering selected Drive files.
This can reduce duplicate file management for teams already using Google Drive or Google Workspace for documents, images, media, and other resources.
File Storage and Delivery
Original files remain in your connected Drive account. DriveHub keeps Google Drive as the source for supported WordPress file workflows and does not require your entire cloud library to be copied into the WordPress Media Library simply to display supported content.
This approach is useful for document collections, image libraries, downloadable resources, client files, course materials, company documents, and media archives. Some supported operations may read or stream file data through your WordPress server when required for a preview, download, or other requested action.

Google Drive API
Service: Google Drive API
Purpose: Used to access supported files, folders, metadata, uploads, downloads, previews, and requested file-management operations.
Data transmitted: OAuth authorization data, access tokens, file metadata, and file content when required for an active operation.
When data is transmitted: When an administrator connects an account or when a requested Drive operation is performed.

Purpose: Used to authenticate a Google account and authorize access to requested Drive resources.
Data transmitted: OAuth authorization information and account information required to complete authentication.
When data is transmitted: When an administrator connects or reconnects an account.

DriveHub OAuth Connection Service (Sovlix)
Service: DriveHub OAuth Connection Service, operated by Sovlix (sovlix.com).
Purpose: Powers the “Automatic” (1-click) Google account connection option. Provides a shared OAuth Client ID so site admins don’t need to create their own Google Cloud project, and relays refresh-token exchanges so the plugin never needs to store a Google OAuth client secret for this mode.
Data transmitted:
Client ID lookup: no site or user data sent; the plugin requests the current shared Client ID from the proxy.
Token refresh: the site’s stored Google OAuth refresh token and the site URL are sent to the proxy, which exchanges the refresh token with Google on the site’s behalf and returns a new access token. The proxy does not store or access Drive file contents.
When data is transmitted: When an administrator connects an account using Automatic mode (Client ID lookup, cached 24 hours), and whenever a Google access token needs renewal (typically hourly). Not used in Manual mode, where the site’s own Google credentials are used directly and this service is never contacted.
File storage: The service does not act as storage for files from the connected Drive account.

Freemius SDK
Service: Freemius (freemius.com) – licensing, update delivery, and account management SDK.
Purpose: Checks for available plugin updates, manages the free-to-Pro upgrade flow and license validation for DriveHub Pro, and (only if the administrator opts in) collects anonymized usage data to help improve the plugin.
Data transmitted: Site URL, plugin version, WordPress and PHP version, and other non-sensitive diagnostic data used for update checks. If the administrator opts in to usage tracking, anonymized usage data is also sent. No Drive files, file content, or connected-account data are ever sent to Freemius.
When data is transmitted: On plugin activation (opt-in prompt shown), periodically for update/license checks, and when usage tracking is enabled.

Data and Privacy
DriveHub does not use tracking pixels or passive telemetry in the current free plugin.
Original files remain in the connected Drive account. OAuth refresh tokens are encrypted before being stored in the WordPress database. DriveHub requests Drive-related access according to the functionality being used.
Administrators can revoke connected-account access through DriveHub or their Google account permissions. Site administrators are responsible for informing visitors and users about connected external services and applicable privacy requirements.
