EmbedPress contacts these services only when the related feature is used. Analytics data stays in your database.
Embed providers and document viewers
Adding an embed sends its URL from your server to the provider’s oEmbed/API endpoint (YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, X and 250+ more); GitHub Gists, Meetup events and Google Photos albums are read from their public pages. Visitors’ browsers then load the provider’s player directly, sharing their IP address. Office files display via Microsoft Office Online or Google Docs Viewer, which receive the file URL. Provider terms apply, e.g. Google (Terms, Privacy), Meta (Terms, Privacy), Microsoft (Terms, Privacy), GitHub (Terms, Privacy) and Meetup (Terms, Privacy).
EmbedPress API (api.embedpress.com)
Run by EmbedPress (WPDeveloper). Google Reviews uses it to search businesses and fetch reviews, only after an administrator agrees to connect. Connecting sends your site URL, a hashed site fingerprint, WordPress/EmbedPress versions and Pro status. Searches send the search text; fetches send the Place ID and a callback URL, with WP-Cron checking progress. Reviews are stored locally; page views only contact it for places never fetched or still fetching. Instagram, Facebook and Calendly sign-in also passes through it to swap the sign-in code (and your admin URL) for a token. Terms, Privacy.
Google APIs
Only with a key or account you add. Places API: search text and Place ID when searching or fetching reviews. YouTube Data API: channel/playlist/video ID when a gallery loads. Calendar API: OAuth sign-in and calendar IDs when a calendar loads. Review photos load from Google’s image servers. Terms, APIs Terms, Maps Platform Terms, YouTube API Terms, Privacy.
Apify (api.apify.com)
Optional, with your own token only. Sends the token (to validate it) and the search text or Place ID when searching or fetching reviews. Terms, Privacy.
Instagram/Facebook Graph API, Calendly, OpenSea
Once connected, your token is sent to graph.instagram.com / graph.facebook.com when a feed loads, and to api.calendly.com on connect or sync; visitors load Calendly’s widget from assets.calendly.com. OpenSea embeds send the contract/token/collection ID and your own OpenSea API key to api.opensea.io; without a saved key nothing is sent to the OpenSea API. Meta (Platform Terms, Privacy), Calendly (Terms, Privacy), OpenSea (Terms, Privacy).
Visitor geolocation (ipapi.co, ipinfo.io)
The country comes from host/CDN headers when present. Otherwise the visitor’s IP address is sent over HTTPS to ipapi.co (or ipinfo.io as a fallback): for Analytics only if you enable Visitor Geolocation (off by default), and for embeds you give a country restriction (disable via the embedpress/geolocation/allow_remote_lookup filter). ipapi.co (Terms, Privacy) and ipinfo.io (Terms, Privacy).
Usage tracking (send.wpinsight.com)
Opt-in only; nothing is sent unless an administrator agrees. Then, daily and on deactivation, it sends site URL and name, WordPress/PHP/server versions, language, plugins, theme, embed counts per source, the opting-in admin’s email and any deactivation reason. Run by WPDeveloper: Terms, Privacy.
Other assets
Some admin screens load images from embedpress.com and cloud.zoobbe.com (What’s New window); only the admin’s browser connects. Zoobbe (Terms, Privacy). On AMP pages, Reddit/X embeds load AMP components from cdn.ampproject.org (Google), which receives only the visitor’s IP address.
