Embedfinder (https://embedfinder.com) is a metadata tool: you paste the link of a public video page, a listing or a YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion video, and it returns the title, description, poster, genres and the embeddable players, ranked. This plugin is the receiving end on your WordPress site: when you press “Send to…” in Embedfinder, the entries arrive as drafts (or published, if you choose so), with nothing to copy by hand.
Regular sites: creates standard posts with the players as iframes at the end of the content (direct video files use the built-in player).
Movie themes with a movies post type and player fields: creates movies entries with the players filled into the theme’s player fields.
Downloads the poster and sets it as the featured image.
Genres become terms of the genres taxonomy (when the theme has it) or tags.
Never duplicates: if an entry with the same source URL already exists, it is skipped.
Entries are authored by the user who activated the plugin (or the first administrator).
The plugin does not fetch or extract any page by itself. It only adds two REST routes, protected by a key shown in Settings > Embedfinder:
GET /wp-json/embedfinder/v1/estado (connection test)
POST /wp-json/embedfinder/v1/recibir (receives entries)
Free test sends, then a paid plan
The plugin is free (GPL) and has no locked features. It needs an Embedfinder account, which is free to create. Every account, including the free plan, gets 20 test sends, one time: each entry sent to your site counts as one. After that, sending entries requires a paid Embedfinder plan that includes connectors (currently the Premium plan). Testing the connection never uses test sends. External services
This plugin works together with Embedfinder (https://embedfinder.com), a third-party service. You need an Embedfinder account to use it.
The plugin never sends requests to Embedfinder by itself. You copy your site URL and the key shown in Settings > Embedfinder into your Embedfinder account, and Embedfinder uses them to reach your site:
When you press “Test” in your Embedfinder account, Embedfinder calls GET /wp-json/embedfinder/v1/estado on your site. Your site answers with the plugin version and whether a movie theme with player fields was detected.
When you press “Send to…” in your Embedfinder account, Embedfinder sends the entries you selected (source URL, title, description, poster URL, genres, date and player URLs) to POST /wp-json/embedfinder/v1/recibir. Your site answers with how many entries were created or skipped and any error messages.
Nothing else is sent to Embedfinder: no visitor data, no user data and no other site content.
Poster images: when an entry includes a poster URL, the plugin downloads that image from the server where it is hosted (usually the site the entry came from) to create the featured image. That server receives a normal image request from your site (your server’s IP address and WordPress user agent). This only happens while receiving entries you sent.
