Tinnirello Media Anonymizer adds a screen under Media > Media Anonymizer where you can select one or more images from your Media Library and apply a pixelation effect to them.
This is useful for anonymizing faces, license plates, documents, or any other sensitive content in images already uploaded to your site, without an external image editor.
It also helps if you build or sell themes. Demo content usually ships with photos you cannot redistribute. Pixelating them turns each photo into a placeholder that keeps its size and colors, so the layout still looks right and anyone using the demo can tell at a glance which images need replacing.
How it works
Select one or more images from the Media Library grid.
Choose a pixel intensity (block size).
Click “Pixelate selected”. The plugin overwrites the original file on disk and regenerates all registered thumbnail sizes.
A cache-busting query string is appended to image URLs so browsers and caches pick up the updated file immediately.
Important
This operation overwrites the original media file. It cannot be undone by the plugin. Keep your own backup of the original file if you may need it later.
Requires the PHP GD extension, which the plugin checks for on activation.
Supports JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and BMP (where GD support for the format is available on your server).
This plugin does not collect any data, does not communicate with any external server or service, and does not include any tracking of any kind.
