RATA – AI Text to Speech adds a listen button and a player to your posts.
Browser voice – reads the page directly with the visitor’s browser voice; no account, no audio files.
AI voices (Vbee AIVoice) – connect your own Vbee account and the plugin creates natural mp3 audio for your posts. Only the parts of a post that changed are read again, so edits cost little.
Player – speed levels, a time bar you can drag to the part you want to hear, and voice information.
Display rules – choose the post types, categories and pages that get the player; hide it on single posts.
Pronunciation dictionary and sentences read instead of tables, diagrams and images.
Queue and log – see what is sent, retried or failed, with clear error handling.
Everything above works fully in this plugin, with no limit. RATA Premium, a separate plugin, adds automatic reading after publishing, follow-along highlight, player styles, your own cloned voice, several voices per post, multilingual sites, a podcast feed, mp3 download, an embeddable player, listening statistics, an audio library and bulk reading. The “Free & paid versions” tab of the settings compares them.
Vbee AIVoice
AI voices are created by the Vbee AIVoice service with your own Vbee account (App ID and Token). Vbee bills you in points for the text sent. This plugin is independent software, not made or endorsed by Vbee AITalk; “Vbee” and “Vbee AIVoice” are trademarks of Vbee AITalk.
External services
This plugin connects to the following services only when you enable and configure them:
Vbee AIVoice text-to-speech API (https://api.vbee.vn) – when the reading mode is “Vbee AI” and an App ID / Token are saved, the text of the posts to read (title and content, after the skip rules and the dictionary are applied) and the chosen voice, speed and bitrate are sent to create the audio. The created mp3 files are downloaded to your uploads folder. Nothing about visitors is sent. Vbee terms of service and privacy policy.
Vbee voice list (https://vbee.vn/api/v1/voices) – the list of Vbee voices (names, pictures, samples, point factors) is downloaded only when an administrator clicks “Update from Vbee” (Voices tab), after the saved App ID and Token connect; it is never downloaded by itself. Nothing is sent but the request itself. Vbee terms of service and privacy policy.
Vbee links – the links to Vbee in this readme and on the settings page (creating an account, balance and plan) carry the RATA referral code. RATA may receive a commission; the price for you is the same.
Freemius (https://freemius.com) – licensing, plans, trial, checkout and updates. Data is sent only after you opt in or activate a license; see the Freemius privacy policy.
Privacy
The plugin adds suggested text to Settings → Privacy. The player keeps the chosen speed in the visitor’s browser. Nothing about visitors is sent to Vbee or stored by the plugin.
