原文外掛簡介

Give your books a well-designed home on WordPress. Pretty Bookshelf Basic pairs clean layouts with simple controls and clear instructions. Add your books once, choose a page layout, and help readers find where to buy. No coding required.
Publish up to five books and keep unlimited drafts. The built-in Getting Started guide walks you through adding a book, choosing a layout, and publishing your page. An illustrated guide is available at https://prettyplugins.com/getting-started-with-pretty-bookshelf/.

Publish up to five books at a time; keep unlimited drafts.
Look up an ISBN using Open Library, or enter a book manually.
Edit book details, upload a cover, and add up to four retailer links.
Display one book or an automatic collection of books by an author.
Start with a Bookstore gallery, Author page, or Single-book launch layout.
Use blocks or copy a shortcode from Pretty Bookshelf > Shortcodes & Layouts.

Book details are saved on your website. Updating a book updates it wherever you display it. Missing or unavailable covers use a bundled placeholder.
Author edition
The limit applies to published book records across the whole site, not to regular WordPress posts or pages. Displaying a book on several pages still uses only one slot. Private and scheduled books do not use a slot until published. Password-protected books with Published status do count.
At the limit, another publication attempt saves the book as a draft. Existing published books can still be edited. Scheduled books are checked when their publication time arrives; if all five slots are occupied, the scheduled book becomes a draft instead. A REST publication request receives an error when the collection is already full.
Moving from an unrestricted or larger edition: Author keeps the five oldest published books (publication date, then ID) and moves any others to draft. No book records, descriptions, images, or retailer links are deleted. A notice explains the change. Go to Pretty Bookshelf > Published Books to choose a different set of up to five books. Draft books disappear from public book displays until republished.
Books, metadata keys, shortcodes, and block names remain compatible with earlier Pretty Bookshelf releases. Install this edition as a replacement for the existing plugin, not alongside a second copy. Deactivating or removing this plugin does not delete book records. Publication limits require a standard WordPress MySQL/MariaDB database with named-lock support; if a publication lock cannot be obtained, a new publication is saved as a draft.

Page layouts
In the page editor, open the block inserter (+), choose Patterns, then Pretty Bookshelf.

Bookstore gallery: choose a book for each card. Duplicate or remove cards as needed.
Author page: replace the portrait and biography, then choose an author in the Author Collection block. Published books by that author appear automatically.
Single-book launch: choose a book and replace the introductory and review text. Remove any sections you do not need.

If the editor shows an Edit pattern button, click it to select the book or author blocks inside the layout. Replace all sample text before publishing. The plugin does not add books or pages automatically.
Layouts fit your theme’s content width and inherit its fonts and colors. If the gallery feels narrow, choose a full-width or no-sidebar page template if your theme offers one. Patterns require the WordPress block editor.
Shortcodes
Use your own book ID or author name. The Shortcodes & Layouts screen generates examples from your website’s published books.
Display one book:
[pretty_bookshelf id=”123″]
Display all published books by an author, in title order:
[pretty_bookshelf author=”Author Name”]
Shorten descriptions and hide publication details:
[pretty_bookshelf id=”123″ description_words=”45″ show_details=”false”]
Options:
* id: a published book ID. Takes priority if author is also supplied.
* author: the full Author field from a book record. Matching ignores capitalization and extra spaces. It does not split coauthors or guess pen names.
* cover_size: small, medium, or large. Default: medium. Gallery cards use a consistent cover width.
* show_description: true or false. Default: true.
* description_words: 0 to 500. 0 shows the full description. Longer descriptions have a Read more control. Defaults: 0 for one book, 45 for an author collection.
* show_details: true or false. Shows format, publisher, publication date, pages, and ISBN when supplied. Defaults: true for one book, false for an author collection.
External services and privacy
ISBN lookup uses the Open Library APIs, operated by the Internet Archive. Requests happen when an editor clicks Find Book. An uncached lookup can make up to four server-side requests for an edition, description, and missing details. Requests send the ISBN, server IP address, and a User-Agent identifying Pretty Bookshelf and the site’s public URL.
Results are cached for 24 hours, or five minutes when details are incomplete. Repeated lookups use that cache. Lookups are spaced and serialized to respect provider limits. No API key or Open Library account is required. Manual entry works if the service is unavailable.
Imported covers load from covers.openlibrary.org, so visitors’ browsers send that service normal image-request information such as IP address and browser headers. Upload your own covers to avoid those requests. Saved metadata and descriptions are displayed from your website without catalog requests.
The plugin does not send book descriptions, retailer links, account credentials, or visitor details in ISBN lookup requests. It includes no analytics, tracking, or automatic external requests on activation. Check imported content and your rights to use cover artwork and descriptions before publishing.
