Neutrope Source Updates Hub gives editors a dedicated place to manage short notes about trusted source updates. It is designed for sites that need to track policy changes, examination schedules, public notices, vendor release notes, or similar source-backed information without mixing those entries into ordinary blog posts.
The plugin is built around a source-first workflow:
Public output shows administrator-verified entries by default.
Entries require a Source URL and Source name before publication.
The optional verification requirement can prevent publication until an administrator confirms the source.
RSS / Atom ingestion never publishes automatically.
Generated entries are unverified drafts with empty post content and excerpt.
No AI summaries, telemetry, tracking, external JavaScript, or external CSS are included.
Main features:
Custom post type ntoh_official_news for short source notes.
Source URL, source name, published date, checked date, importance, pinned, archived, verified, and internal-note metadata.
Category and tag taxonomies for source notes.
Admin columns for source, dates, importance, verification, pinned, archived, and source URL.
[ntoh_news_hub] shortcode with list, cards, and compact layouts.
[ntoh_news_hub_grouped] shortcode for grouped category or tag sections.
Settings for default layout, default limit, link target, archived behavior, verified-only display, noindex on single pages, frontend CSS loading, summaries, single-page redirects, and publish validation.
Administrator-enabled RSS / Atom source records.
Candidate and fetch-log admin screens.
Review status, risk labels, source health, Overview, filtered review lists, and dismissible admin notices for review-needed items.
External services
This plugin can make outbound HTTPS requests only after an administrator creates and enables a source record.
The plugin requests only the RSS / Atom feed URL configured by the administrator and processes up to the latest three items per run. It does not request or monitor any other web pages.
Feed requests use:
HTTPS only.
No redirects.
A 10-second timeout.
A 2 MB response limit.
WordPress safe HTTP URL checks.
An exact allowed domain for item URLs taken from the feed.
The request User-Agent contains the plugin name, plugin version, and site URL for normal HTTP identification. The plugin does not contact unrelated services.
Privacy / Stored data
The plugin does not send telemetry and does not track visitors or administrators.
Stored data may include:
Source note posts and their metadata.
Administrator-created source records.
RSS / Atom candidate metadata, including source URL, canonical URL, title, GUID hash, date, and a private plain-text review excerpt of up to 500 characters.
Fetch logs with run status and error messages.
Per-user admin notice dismiss signatures for review-needed notices.
Posts generated from RSS / Atom items are created as unverified drafts with empty content and excerpt. The plugin does not automatically publish generated entries.
The plugin does not delete its custom tables or post meta when it is updated.
Upgrading from the pre-directory version
Back up the database and plugin files first. The directory name has changed, so this package is installed alongside the old package, not over it. Deactivate the old core before activating this plugin; do not delete its data. Do not run both cores together.
Activation migrates the legacy post type and taxonomies in place, keeping IDs, metadata and term relationships. Stored legacy shortcode tags in posts, excerpts and standard text/HTML/block widgets are updated to [ntoh_news_hub] and [ntoh_news_hub_grouped]. Update hard-coded theme calls, custom integrations, saved admin URLs and externally stored shortcode text manually. Existing pretty permalink paths are retained.
