Infovarious Picture Converter generates modern AVIF and WebP versions of your JPEG, PNG and GIF images and shows them to browsers that support them. Browsers that do not support these formats keep receiving your original image.
Features
Bulk conversion by upload month, processed in small batches so it works on shared hosting.
Optional automatic conversion of new uploads (all image sizes). It is off by default because conversion takes extra time during upload.
Resized versions (thumbnail, medium, large and so on) are converted too, and responsive images keep their srcset and sizes.
Original files are never changed or deleted. Converted files are saved next to the originals (for example photo.jpg and photo.webp / photo.avif).

Lazy-loading friendly: data-src attributes and base64 placeholders are handled.

Requirements
Conversion uses the image library that WordPress already uses (GD or Imagick). WebP and AVIF support depends on your server. The settings screen shows what is available. AVIF needs WordPress 6.5 or later and a library built with AVIF support.

This plugin does not collect data and does not contact any external service.
