Finzo Product Search for WooCommerce is a free live search plugin that replaces the default WooCommerce product search. It shows matching products while the shopper is still typing, ranks them by relevance, and finds the right item even when the search has a typo, a different word or a SKU.
The default storefront search looks for words in product titles and content, and does not account for SKUs, variations, misspellings or synonyms. Finzo builds its own product index and scores every match on the fields you choose, so the product a shopper means comes first.

Live search in the search box your theme already has
There is nothing to place and no template to edit. Finzo finds the search fields your theme already shows — in the header, menu, sidebar or a widget — and answers right inside them, at that field’s width. Fields a theme loads later are picked up too.
Need a search box somewhere else? Put the [finzo_search] shortcode in any page, post, widget area or page builder that accepts shortcodes. Add look="inline_results" to build a dedicated search page with results laid down the page.
Results that find the right product
Its own search index. Products and variations are stored in a dedicated table with a MySQL FULLTEXT index, so searches do not run slow post-meta queries.
SKU and variation search. Each variation is indexed with its own SKU, so a part number or model number finds the exact item.
Field weights you control. Decide how much a match counts in the title, SKU, categories, tags and short description, from 0 to 10.
Ranking signals. Best sellers move up when scores are close, and out-of-stock products sink below in-stock ones.
Typo tolerance. “sweatshrt” still finds the sweatshirt.
Synonyms. One line, such as hoodie = sweatshirt, pullover, works in every direction.
Word stemming and partial matching. “running” also matches “run”, and results appear before a word is finished.
Exact phrase preference, stopwords and match modes. All words, any word, or all words with a fallback to any.
Redirects. Send a search such as “track order” straight to the orders page.
No more empty results. When nothing matches, Finzo relaxes the search and shows the closest products instead of “no results”.
Stays current. Products are re-indexed when saved, with a scheduled full rebuild (hourly, twice daily, daily or weekly) for bulk imports and stock syncs.
A result card that shows what shoppers need
Choose what each result carries: image, price, sale price and discount badge, SKU, category, star rating, stock status, tags, a short description snippet and highlighted matching words. Lay results out as a list with thumbnails, a grid of cards or compact rows, group them by category, and sort by relevance, newest, price, best selling or rating.
Keyboard navigation, recent searches (kept in the visitor’s browser only), a “See all results” link, and close on Escape or outside click are built in.
Match your store’s design
The Appearance screen controls every colour, font size, corner radius, spacing value, thumbnail size and animation the search panel uses. By default it inherits your theme’s font. Give the theme search box or the shortcode box its own look when one of them needs different colours. Preview opens the real search panel inside the admin with your changes, before you save.
Tune relevance before shoppers see it
The Query tester runs any search against your live index and shows the score behind each result. Six presets — fashion, electronics, grocery, furniture, beauty and digital downloads — give you a starting point, and Presets & backup exports every setting as JSON.
Built for performance and privacy
Searches run against your own database. No search term, product or visitor detail leaves your server.
The free plugin records no searches.
Responses are cached, and the storefront script loads deferred by default.
When no search type is switched on, Finzo loads nothing on the storefront.
Declares compatibility with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS).
Choose whether shop managers or administrators only can change settings.
Everything above works in this plugin, with no account and no licence.
Finzo Premium
A paid build adds to the free plugin. Premium is optional; nothing here depends on it.
Spotlight search — a centred search panel opened with Cmd/Ctrl + K, Cmd/Ctrl + / or Cmd/Ctrl + F, or with a floating button. 16 ready-made designs, ten of them animated, five opening animations, and its own width, position and backdrop.
Mobile search — a floating search button on phones, in 10 button styles and 12 icons, that opens full screen, as a bottom sheet, as a card or down from the top.
Filters — category, In stock and On sale chips above the results, each showing how many matches are behind it.
Add to cart from the results — for simple, in-stock products, with the theme’s mini-cart updating.
Merchandising — for any search, show chosen products first, rank a product higher, or never show it. Products are picked by name.
Search analytics — the most searched queries, the searches that found nothing and the zero-result rate. Only query text and counts are stored, with no IP addresses or user IDs.
More to search inside — product attributes, the full description, custom fields (including ACF fields) and other taxonomies such as brands, each with its own weight.
Shortcodes
[finzo_search] — a real search box that shows its results right there, in the page. Add look="inline_results" to lay the results down the page instead of in a dropdown.

finzo_before_search — filter the parsed query tokens before they are scored.
finzo_search_results — filter the finished result set.
finzo_index_product — filter a product’s index row before it is written.
finzo_settings_schema — filter the settings schema.
finzo_settings_capability — filter the capability required to manage settings.
finzo_stopwords — filter the stopword list.
Search runs through a public, read-only REST endpoint at /wp-json/finzo/v1/search?q=shoes, which can also be used by headless front ends.
Finzo Product Search is an independent plugin. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, WooCommerce or Automattic.
External Services
This plugin uses Freemius to handle licensing, the optional paid build and product
updates. Freemius is a third-party service operated by Freemius Inc.
When it is contacted, and what is sent
Opt-in (optional). On activation you are asked whether to share basic site data.
If you agree, the site URL, WordPress and PHP versions, the active theme and plugin
list, and the administrator name and email address are sent so Freemius can create
your account and send product news. If you skip or decline, none of this is sent and
the plugin keeps working in full.
Pricing screen. Opening the pricing page in the admin requests the current plans
and prices from Freemius. The site URL and the plugin identifier are sent.
Licence activation and checks. If you buy a licence, the licence key, site URL
and plugin version are sent to activate it, and periodically afterwards to confirm it
is still valid and to check for updates.
Uninstall (optional). If you opted in, deactivating the plugin offers an optional
feedback form. Nothing is sent unless you submit it.
No search terms, product data, order data or visitor information are ever sent to
Freemius or to any other external service.

Source Code
This plugin’s own CSS and JavaScript ship uncompiled in resources/, so there
is nothing to build.
The bundled Freemius SDK in vendor/freemius/ includes one compiled asset,
assets/js/pricing/freemius-pricing.js. Its source and build tooling are
maintained by Freemius at https://github.com/Freemius/wordpress-sdk
