CanDAM WordPress editor button connector for Fotoware – Base allows you to directly include images from Fotoweb DAM into WordPress. In this base plugin version, only images are supported, and they are not imported into the WordPress Library. Instead, they stay in the Fotoweb repository at the desired dimensions and are referenced by the permalink of the Embedded export file into the WordPress Editor.
The pro version of the plugin can also embed thumbnails for documents, audio, and video files. It allows you to optionally import file previews into the WordPress Library, ensuring that images and other referenced assets are always available in WordPress, even if the link to the Fotoweb site is down. This feature is particularly useful if Fotoweb DAM is on a secured intranet, while the WordPress site is public.
In addition, the pro version of the plugin allows you to include a block of preformatted text that may contain asset metadata. You can define up to three metadata text templates and choose the text position (above, left, right, or below the image or asset) right after you hit the Publish Button.
Note: To use the plugin, you need a client access license for the selection widget and Export module of Fotoweb 8 at least. Other licensing requirements may exist at both server and client levels. To enable the FancyBox popup window displaying a larger preview when you click an image, you need to install the free WordPress plugin Easy FancyBox from RavenH.
